Maple wood is heavy, strong and even textured. The bird's eye figure is occasionally present from which the distinctive name. The heartwood is cream-white with a reddish tinge. Maple is used for flooring, furniture, panelling, musical instruments and butcher's blocks. The trees grow in the Eastern parts of the USA and Canada. |
